What is the difference between the Essentials, Deluxe and Expert courses?
All three cover the same core channels. They differ in depth.
- Essentials (50 lessons) is the foundations path, for someone starting from zero. You finish able to audit a business's digital presence and write a 90 day marketing plan.
- Deluxe (over 100 lessons) is the job ready path, for someone preparing to apply for a first marketing role or take on a first client. You finish able to plan, build and report on a campaign across several channels.
- Expert (over 150 lessons) is the specialist path, for someone who wants depth in paid media, analytics and automation.
Which course should I start with?
If you are new to marketing, start with Essentials. If you have done some free courses or study and want to get job ready, choose Deluxe. If you already work in marketing and want depth, choose Expert. If a client or employer needs one specific skill, take the short course for that skill.
Not sure? Our course finder asks three questions and suggests a course.
Who is 20 Minute Marketing for?
People who want to learn digital marketing and be paid for it:
- Career changers moving from retail, hospitality, admin or a trade into marketing work.
- Students and school leavers who want practical skills before, or instead of, a longer qualification.
- Freelancers who need a specific skill to win or keep a client.
Business owners who want to run their own marketing use the courses too. If you run a trade business, the Digital Marketing for Tradies Course is built for you.
Who is 20 Minute Marketing not for?
It is not the right choice if you need a nationally recognised qualification, for example because an employer or a visa requires one. In that case look at a TAFE or RTO course.
It is also not a live class or a done-for-you marketing service. It suits people who will work through self-paced lessons and practise what they learn.
Do I need any marketing experience?
No. Essentials starts from zero and explains every term the first time it is used. You need a computer or phone, an internet connection and about 20 minutes at a time.
Will this course get me a job?
No course can promise that, and we won't. What the courses do is teach the practical skills entry-level marketing roles and first clients ask for, and give you work you can show: an audit, a campaign plan, a report. You still need to apply, interview and build experience.
We recommend pairing a course with the free Google and HubSpot certificates, and doing real work for a local club, charity or friend's business while you learn.
How is this different from a TAFE course or a university degree?
A TAFE course or a university degree gives you a nationally recognised qualification, a timetable and a campus community, and many are eligible for VET Student Loans, HECS-HELP or state subsidies. Those are real advantages, especially if a role asks for a qualification.
We give you practical, current skills in short lessons you can fit around work, for a one-off fee from $79, with no intake dates. Some people do both: a qualification for the credential and our courses for the hands-on platform skills.
See our fair comparison of the options, including TAFE diplomas.
Should I also do the free Google and HubSpot certificates?
Yes. Google Skillshop and HubSpot Academy certificates are free, well known to employers and worth having on your CV. They teach how each vendor's own tools work. Our courses teach how the channels fit together and how to plan, run and report on real work, so the two go well together. Compare them here.
